Journals

A scholarly journal is a place where ideas can be offered for general comment by others in the field. So also the Project's two journals.

The earlier of them, Warring States Papers (WSP), began as a repository for papers presented at the conferences of the Warring Sates Working Group, at the University of Massachusetts and at other centers, between 1993 and 2006. WSP Volume 1, finally published in 2010, with the subtitle Studies in Chinese and Comparative Philology," included in its scope all aspects of antiquity, Indic and the Biblical as well as Sinological.

Its younger sister journal, Alpha, which first appeared in 2017 with the subtitle "Studies in Early Christianity," took responsibility for Biblical topics, leaving WSP to focus chiefly on matters Sinological.

In their current format, WSP retains its primary Sinological focus, while Alpha, under its new subitle :Biblical and Comparative Studies," has broadened from its original New Testament emphasis to take regular account also of Homeric, Indic, and Hebrew Bible traditions.

Our earliest Advisors have also been contributors to our journals, and those later joining the Advisor ranks are most welcome to continue that tradition. For their guidance, whether as critics or contributors, we repeat (in this separate Editorial section of the site) our general pages of advice:
