The 7th of the Junior Sinologues conferences was hosted by the School of Oriental Studies at Durham (directly following the 23rd International Congress of Orientalists at Cambridge), and was housed in Hatfield College. The roster of 45 persons attending is given below. Participants from Great Britain (15) barely outnumbered those from Germany (13), with the Netherlands a distant third (6), followed by France and Italy (4 each). E Kovalev was the only delegate from Russia, and J R Hightower was the only delegate from the United States.
